10. Slippery elm
This healing substance derives from the inner bark of elm trees. It is sold as a powder in the bulk herbs and spices department of most health food stores. Slippery elm is high in nutrients and can be used to treat many conditions, including a sore throat. To make a tea, simply add a spoon of powder to a cup of hot water. Sweeten it with stevia or honey to taste, and add whichever spices suit your fancy: cinnamon, cardamom, ginger or nutmeg.
