1. Reduce risk of cancer
Because it thwarts chronic inflammation, turmeric is a non-toxic safeguard against cancer. Specifically, turmeric has been shown by the Cork Cancer Research Center to kill esophageal cancer cells on contact. Researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center have conducted animal studies that show turmeric inhibits breast cancer from metastasizing to the lungs. In other studies, it has been found to inhibit the growth of melanoma, retard the progression of prostate cancer, and prevent childhood leukemia.
